It's sad that on a day that the BNP have had two MEPs elected that some Conservative bloggers are still obsessed about whether they should be described as 'left' or 'right'.
You might describe their economic policy as 'left-wing' and their immigration policy as 'right-wing' but does it really matter?
They're racist thugs, and they've had a breakthrough elsewhere but were rejected in London. Isn't that slightly more noteworthy than this endless left-right rubbish?
Errr, yes it does matter actually. It's time to take them seriously and put their lunatic policies under the microscope before they start to make gains elsewhere.
And for info, I've always found that the politics of hate are preached by those on the left, so I guess that's why the BNP have left-wing policies.
Yes it does matter - because the mainstream media (particularly the biased BBC) describe the BNP as the extreme right-wing as a way of tarnishing other right-of-centre parties.
The BNP are national SOCIALISTS. Their policies are primarily socialist, except for immigration. Which is precisely why they are taking votes from disaffected Labour supporters who are fed up with their communities being swamped by immigrants - who then seem to receive more generous social help than their own families. (It may not be true ... but that is how they perceive it.)
The only way the BNP will be stopped is for the mainstream parties to start listening to the concerns of disaffected white working class people and adjusting their policies - particularly on immigration.
