Thank you to everyone who voted for the Conservatives (and me) yesterday. The result was much better than I could ever have imagined.
I had lots of help from the local activists, councillors, MPs and my predecessor Bob Neill. Bob is a good friend now and a great politician and I will need to work hard to fill his shoes.
I must also thank my agent, Andrew, my family and most of all my wonderful, supportive and gorgeous wife Susie.

Congrats
Huge congratulations to you James.
I hope you enjoy serving your constituency and represent the residents of Bexley & Bromley with integrity and determination.
Well done to you and your campaign team.
BRILLIANT JAMES!!!!!!
I'm so happy for you!
Can you do those of us who live here (and yourself) one favour and move into the seat (that is not a sour grapes comment!)
Well done James, what an excellent result!
Congratulation James, a well deserved and inevitable victory in Bromley and Bexley. I am sure you will be an asset to the London Assembly and the people of London. A swing of 14% and over 50% of the votes is a massive victory for you and well deserved. You have a great mandate and I believe you can play an important role in the future of the Conservative party.
Please try to help Boris to understand about what makes London such a great multi-cultural city and don't let him ruin this city.
So as not to end on a negative note, sincere congratulations once again from your most frequent commenter.
Congratulations James.
Congratulations and well done James. ;-)
Well done.
Congratulations James, fantastic majority and a well deserved win.
Congratulations!
Well done mate.
Trust the Lib Dem to bring down the tone... James doesn't live in Bexley or Bromley, no, but can you imagine the hassle of trying to move his kids from their current schools for the sake of one or two miles when he clearly understands the issues affecting our residents, is dedicated to representing us as best he can and is obviously the best man for the job? Not to mention the cost involved, especially when the housing market is apparently going to crash - he'd end up losing money!
Bravo, James.
On a more sombre note - I wonder how you'll fare in a room alone with Richard Barnbrook AM working alongside you... Won't that be terrifying for us all!
Good luck at City Hall, hope to see you when you next drop by Sidcup.
"Can you do those of us who live here (and yourself) one favour and move into the seat"
I suppose that's a Lib Dem threat - move, or else we'll run the usual smear campaign (cf. Bromley 2006).
I second the poster above. So hop it!
Congratulations.

Well done, James. You fought well.
James,
Many congratulations on your result.
Please keep up the blogging.
James, what an astounding result, I am thrilled for you and know you will do a great job. I saw your name in the Sunday Times and wanted to pass on my very best wishes to you. Go, go, go....
The Lib Dem did congratulate James in the comments to another posting, and actually in the couple of times we have met over recent months we have been totally friendly and did spend a meeting agreeing with each other (as James posted)!
I wasn't sniping at all, I just think it would be sensible - besides he could move his kids to schools in either Tory borough ;-)
