Oaten pulls from the Lib Dem leadership race

Mark Oaten has removed himself from the race to succeed CK as party leader, at this point he has not said why.

He was a sensible, moderate, honest and loyal to Charles Kennedy and yet he couldn't get enough support to stand.

Kennedy should have retained his position. The lib-dems are needed to bring a bit of level headedness to Government. The Labour party has becume a reincarnation of the tory beast of the Margret Thatcher period that shamed our country with its shamefull policies.I hope the Tories never see power again. This country does not want or Deserve the Tories.

I don’t intend to justify each and every policy of previous Conservative governments. There are a number of policies I didn’t agree with, that said we did much that was essential and the effect was much more positive than negative.

I always find it amusing when Lib Dem voters complain about the Labour government. Had your party not colluded with Labour in 97 and 01 they would have had a much smaller majority and would have been much more accountable. Labour’s arrogance and detachment is a direct result of the tactical voting that your party activists indulged in.
